Dorothy J. Squires, 87, passed away at the Little Sisters of the Poor Nursing Home on January 29, 2018. In her early years Dorothy worked at Vanity Fair in the Knitting department. She also worked at Dunn's Shell Station in Grove Hill, Alabama where she met many new faces that became close friends. Dorothy worked for Dunn's several years until her physical decline.
Dorothy enjoyed cooking for her family and for others. She like crafts and always had some kind of handwork waiting to be finished.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Cecil Squires and her parents, Vadon and Opal Bumpers Jones, and two brothers.
She is survived by her children, Carolyn (Jimmy) Chapman, Thomas Dewayne Squires, Donnie Cecil Squires, Debora Squires Motes (Larry Perine).
Her Grandchildren, Cindy Chapman Adams, Mitzi Motes, Zachary Motes, Cage Squires, Step-Grandchildren, Philip Chapman and Steven Chapman.
Pallbearers - Derek Jones, Gary Jones, Billy Jones, Jimmy Jones, Dewayne Jones, Matt Barnett.
Honorary Pallbearers - Jarrett Lynall, Joe Smiley, Michael Segui, Brian Fulmer, Clint Walker, Zachary Motes, Joe Coe, Randy Hare.
Visitation will be Friday, February 2, 2018, 10:00 to 11:00 AM at Wesley Chapel Methodist Church in the Winn Community, where she was a member. Service will follow at 11:00 AM. Interment will be at the Church Cemetery. Her nephew, Father Paul Anthony Halladay will be officiating with St. Stephens Funeral Home directing.
Special thank you to the Staff at The Little Sisters of the Poor Nursing Home for the special care given to her during the past four years. To her Physician, Dr. Kahelley, the family will forever be grateful for the kindness you showed her and the family.
