Earl Wayne Sheffield

Earl Wayne Sheffield, age 76, of Jackson, Alabama passed away peacefully on Sunday, October 27, 2019 at Mobile Infirmary.  He was born October 11, 1943 to Honree and Mary Lou Sheffield.

A life-long member of Peniel Baptist Church, he served as a deacon for more than 50 years.  He was a self-employed construction contractor for many years before retiring from the Clarke County Board of Education.  He loved his family, especially his grandchildren and great grandchildren.  

He was preceded in death by his parents and brother Earnest Sheffield.  Survivors include his wife of 57 years, Joyce Sheffield, one daughter, Lisa (Steve) Furr and one son, Steve (Fortune) Sheffield;  two grandchildren, Mary Kay "Mimi" Foxhall (Mike) and Steven Tanner Sheffield;  two great grandchildren, John Michael Foxhall and William Robertson "Wills" Foxhall;  one brother, Jessie "Bookie" (JoAn) Sheffield and one sister Frances (Eddie) Rowland; other relatives and friends.

The service will be held on Wednesday, October 30, 2019 at Peniel Baptist Church.  The family will receive visitors from 10:00 AM until the 11:00 AM service.  Flowers may be sent to Peniel Baptist Church of donations may be made to the Peniel Baptist Church Cemetery Fund.  The address is 1730 McVay Road, Jackson, AL, 36545.

Rev. Fred Odom and Rev. Gary Pickard will officiate the service.  Interment will be at the Peniel Community Cemetery.  Arrangements by St. Stephens Funeral Home.
