Jasper Ray Kirby

June 29, 1933 ~ September 19, 2018 (age 85)

Jasper Ray Kirby, 85, passed away on September 19, 2018, at Washington County Nursing Home.  He was a native of Mississippi and a resident of Washington County, AL.  Jasper was a member of Springbank Baptist Church and was baptized there July 19, 2009.  He continued to read his bible faithfully.  He served in the United States National Guard.  While at church one evening, this Mississippi boy met an Alabama young lady in the choir, Ruby Leavine Caten....they married and 65 years later...they were still married!  His occupation was working for the Alabama State Forestry Commission and he retired from there after many years.  Some of his job duties were putting out fires, working in the fire towers, and bulldozing fire lines.  Jasper enjoyed growing gardens, fishing, deer and squirrel hunting.  He was a hard working man who was "particular about everything!"  Jasper's family will attest to him being an amazing husband and father....and the grandchildren....well, they will tell you he would have walked to the moon for them if he could have!
