Jimmie Dell Grimes Moseley, 86, passed away on December 21, 2018. Born and raised in Washington County's Midway community, she lived most of her life devoted to church, family, and friends in St. Stephens, AL. On July 9, 1949, she was married to the late Coleman Moseley, and they were married for 52 years, before his passing on January 6, 2002.
Affectionately known as Maw Maw by her family, and simply Miss Jimmie Dell across the community, she was an active member of the First Baptist Church St. Stephens, serving as a Sunday School teacher and member of the church choir. As a founder and treasurer of the St. Stephens Nutrition Center, she was a major contributor and advocate of bringing hot meals to seniors and shut-ins throughout the community.
A noted seamstress, her only employment outside of the home, before the birth of her three children, was working at the former Vanity Fair mill, and later helping her niece with clothing alterations at Joy Cleaners in Jackson, AL. A talented gardener and canner, Ms. Moseley was known for her ability to grow beautiful vegetables that she sold locally and freely shared with family, friends and those in need. An excellent cook, she spent a lifetime preparing meals for her family, friends and those in need of a warm meal; often delivering a plate to some hungry soul before she would eat.
For decades, every election day, Ms. Moseley served as a poll worker for the St. Stephens voting precinct. She was a huge Alabama football fan, she loved watching hummingbirds and movies on the Hallmark Channel.
A follower of Christ, her life was a wonderful testimony to serving God and those around her. Daily, she prayed for her children and grandchildren, and she was known as a prayer warrior in her church and community.
