Abner Thomas Watts, age 70, a native of Mobile County, departed this life at his home in Dothan, AL on Friday morning, the 27th day of April. A Graveside Service will be celebrated at 1:00 P.M. Monday, April 30th at the Richardson Cemetery in Rutan, near Chatom, AL.
Tommy was born in Mobile, AL on the 15th day of January, 1948 to the late Willard M. Watts, Sr. and Orra Nannette Richardson. Tommy attended Faulkner State Junior College after graduation in 1967 from Davidson High School, Mobile, AL. He later served his country in the U.S. Army Reserves where he received a National Defense Service Medal and Sharpshooter badge.
Tommy was preceded in death by his parents, an infant sister, Doris Faye Watts; a brother, Willard M. "Billy" Watts, Jr.; paternal grandparents, Thomas Marshall Watts and his wife, Polly Armenia "Callie" Kurby; maternal grandparents, Abner Gaines Richardson, Jr. and his wife, Alice Sullivan.
He is survived by his wife of 15 years, Kaye Niehaus Watts, her sons, Jacob Burns (Diana), Clint Burns (Leigh) and Jarrod Burns (Mary); his former wife, Sharon Schwartz Watts and their children, Michelle Watts Smith, Michael Thomas Watts and Melissa Watts; grandchildren, Darian Smith, Cassidy Smith, Haley Burns, Shelby Burns, Jaxon Burns, Colton Ray Burns, Lily Burns and Scarlett Burns; sisters, Diane Watts Parker (Frank) and Kaye Watts Collier; first cousins, Ann R.Clarke (Franklin), Alice R. Grimes, Glo R. Holt (Tommy), Ruth R. Schaffer (Bill), Joe Richardson (Charlene), Susan R. Baxter, Gary Watts and Whitney Easler.
