Alvin Tucker Jr. Obituary

With deep love and gratitude for a life well lived, we announce the passing of Alvin Ernest Tucker Jr on February 26, 2026.

Ernest was born to Alvin Tucker and Dorothy R. Tucker on December 8, 1945. He was a graduate of Washington County High School class of 1964. He went on to complete a master’s degree in English and Religion at Mobile College.

Rooted deeply in his faith, Ernest answered the call to preach. He shared God’s Word with sincerity offering guidance, encouragement, and steady wisdom to all who sought it. His faith was not only confined to the pulpit; it was reflected in the way he lived each day. As a vocational school teacher, he believed deeply in the power of education and delighted in shaping young minds and nurturing character. Ernest also worked as skilled carpenter. He took pride in honest work and building something that would last. Whether it was building a home or something special for a family member or friend, he approached every task with care and excellence.

Above all, Ernest was a devoted husband, a loving father, and a proud grandfather. He was married to the love of his life, Pat Tucker, for 60 years. Throughout those years, they shared a life of faith and service to everyone around them always putting others before themselves. The Lord blessed them with four children Lisa Tucker, Leslie Tucker, Christopher Tucker, and Ashlie (Brian) Henry. Four grandchildren Bolton (Lauren) Tucker, Blane Vest, Abigail Henry, and Bailey Henry. Two great grandchildren Maevry Tucker and Pace Tucker. His family was the center of his world and the driving force behind all of his hard work. He led his home with strength with compassion setting an example of faithfulness and love just as the Lord instructed. His grandchildren and great grandchildren were his greatest treasures. He enjoyed sharing stories, laughter, and passing on traditions and lessons with them that will continue on for generations to come.

In quieter moments, Ernest found joy and fulfillment in the outdoors. Whether it was casting a line into the river and creek bank or tending to his garden with patience and care, he cherished those simple blessings of God’s creation. Those hobbies reflected who he was- steady, caring, and appreciative of life’s small meaningful moments that God provides.

Ernest will be remembered as a hardworking man of deep faith and service, strong character, and a generous heart. His legacy lives on in the lives he touched, the lessons he taught, the things he built, and the family he loved so dearly. He will be greatly missed, but we rejoice in the fact of knowing he is worshipping at the feet of his Lord and Savior alongside his precious wife and daughter.

Ernest leaves behind his children Leslie, Tucker, Christopher Tucker, Ashlie (Brian) Henry. Grandchildren Bolton (Lauren) Tucker, Blane Vest, Abigail Henry, Bailey Henry and great grandchildren Maevry and Pace Tucker. Siblings Kay (Wendall) Carlisle, Johnny (Judy) Tucker, a host of nieces and nephews, a circle of extended family and friends, and church family. He is preceded in death by his wife Eva (Pat) Tucker, daughter Lisa Tucker, parents Alvin and Dorothy Tucker, and sister Margaret Ann Glenn.
