Billy Norris Thornton, 87 of Chatom passed away Thursday, October 13, 2022 at Providence Hospital in Mobile. He was born in Washington County Al on November 4, 1934. He was a veteran of the US Air Force and a longstanding member of Chatom Baptist Church where he served as a deacon. He was employed by Ciba Geigy in McIntosh for 40 years, was a family man and loved to visit with his many friends. His favorite place was in the swing on the front porch at his camp. He was preceded in death by his wife of 50 years, Regina F. Thornton, parents, Earnest E. Thornton and Odette B. Thornton, his brothers Buddy, Bobby and Jimmy Thornton, his sister, Voncille Brown.
He is survived by children, Kay Howard, Norris (Tina) Thornton and Brad (Fran) Thornton; grandchildren, Nickie (Brandon) Roberts, Natalie Rene’ Howard, Kolby (Taylor) Thornton, Kyle Patterson Thornton, Ryan Ferguson Thornton, and Sadie Claire Thornton; special friend, Linda Fowler; sisters, Deloris Blount and Sandra Brown, 3 great-grandsons, and numerous other relatives. Pallbearers will be his sons and grandsons.
Services will be held at Chatom Baptist Church in Chatom, Alabama, Sunday, October 16, 2022, at 2:00 pm visitation with funeral services to follow at 3:00 pm.
