Charles Douglas Durbin II passed away peacefully on January 19, 2026, at the Retreat Hospice by Saad in Mobile, Alabama. He was born to Charles D. Durbin and Betty Durbin in Orlando, Florida, on September 19, 1961. To many, he was known affectionately as “Chuck” or Charlie.
He attended school in Birmingham, Alabama, and proudly served his country for nine years with the Air Force and Air National Guard. Chuck had a passion for traveling, adventures, and making new friends wherever he went. His greatest love was for animals, especially dogs. If possible, he would have rescued every stray he encountered.
Chuck is survived by his loving companion of four and a half years, Laura Vest. He also leaves behind his beloved dogs: Sassy, Rocco, Teacup, Luna, Peanut, and Sophie, as well as an abundance of friends near and far who will miss him dearly. He is preceded in death by his parents, grandparents, and his son, Chad Durbin.
In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Washington County Animal Rescue through PayPal at washincoanimalrescue2019. Chuck's legacy of kindness and compassion for animals and people alike will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
A memorial service will be held at a later date.
