Charles Kenneth Rowell Sr, 81, of Vinegar Bend, Al, passed away at his home on Wednesday, May 8, 2024.
Mr. Rowell was a gentle soul who was respectful around mixed company, such as women and children. He was such a gentleman. He enjoyed joking and cutting up. He was quite the character. He was also a man of integrity and a true man of God.
Mr. Charles was a fisherman by trade and leisure. He loved hunting and gardening. He also enjoyed going to Horn Island to throw his cast net. He enjoyed spending time with his family and loved his grandchildren dearly, as they fondly called him Pawpaw. He was a father figure to many. He was always so easy to talk to and never met a stranger.
Mr. Rowell is survived by: His son, Charles Kenneth Rowell Jr; daughter, Sonya Brown; brother, Melvin Rowell; sisters, Dorothy Gibson, Linda Cirlot and Rita Leisure; 5 grandchildren and 4 great grandchildren.
Mr. Rowell is preceded in death by: Parents, James and Mamie Rowell and brothers, Orey Rowell, Calvin Rowell and Gary Rowell.
A graveside service will be held at the Rowell Family Cemetery at 451 Lewis Ln in Vinegar Bend, Al. on Thursday, May 16, 2024 at 1:00 PM, with Pastor Stewart Turner officiating.
