Deloris Blount Obituary

Mrs. Deloris Thornton Blount passed away peacefully on February 16, 2026, at Washington County Hospital in Chatom, Alabama. She was a precious person with a precious soul, remembered by all who knew her for her warmth and kindness. Mrs. Blount and her beloved husband, Mr. Rufus Blount, were married for sixty-one years until his passing on July 20, 2017. During their devoted marriage, they raised two beautiful children, Malinda and Malissa, creating a loving foundation for their family. Mrs. Blount cherished spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Affectionately known as "Maw Maw," she was adored by her grands and great-grands, who will always remember her gentle spirit and loving embrace. In her younger years, Mrs. Blount delighted in being on the water, enjoying fishing regardless of the catch. She treasured the calmness and serenity that nature brought her. She was also renowned for her culinary skills, especially her fried chicken, biscuits, and cornbread. Her kitchen was always filled with the comforting smells of home, creating cherished memories for her family. Mrs. Blount will be dearly missed by all her family and friends. Her legacy of love, warmth, and generosity will live on in the hearts of those who knew her.

Mrs. Blount is survived by her daughters, Malinda (Larry) Daughterty and Malissa (Ken) Smith, Sister, Sandra Brown, sister in-laws, Brenda Thornton and Patsy Hill. grandchildren, Clay (Tara) Sheffield, Meg (Paul) Gartman and Tyler (Rebekah) Smith. great grandchildren, Carson Sheffield, Grady Gartman, Hudson Smith and Benton Smith.  She is Preceded in death by her husband Rufus Grady Blount, parents, Ernest and Odette Thornton, sister, Voncile Brown, brothers, Buddy Thornton, Bobby Thornton, Billy Thornton, Jimmy Thornton.

 A graveside service will be Wednesday, February 18, 2026, at 11:30A.M in McIntosh Baptist Church Cemetery in McIntosh, Alabama.

Officiating the service will be Probate Judge Nick Williams.
