Eleanor "Tootsie" Grey Newsom Dumas, 77, passed away Monday, July 12, 2021. She graduated from Clarke County High School then married her high school sweetheart George Dumas. Eleanor and George were married for 59 years. At the age of 18 she went to work at Vanity Fair as a work handler at the downtown plant in Jackson. She worked several years then took some time off. After her second child was born she went back to work at Vanity Fair located on Highway 43, Jackson until it closed. Eleanor then transferred to Vanity Fair in Monroeville for one year as a supervisor. Once New Era opened in Jackson she took a job as a supervisor on night shift until the plant closed in 2010. In 2003 New Era published their first ever company wide cookbook, which she named "59Fifty Ways to Cook". Eleanor and George coached the Vanity Fair girls softball team for many years. Most everyone knew Eleanor as "Tootsie". In her younger years she loved family time at the beach with her kids, Tina and Todd. She also spent many hours enjoying her pool at home. Eleanor also enjoyed spending time with her grandchildren and her sisters. She with Barbara and Ouida were always visiting family and shopping. Christmas was one of her favorite times, she loved decorating and spending time with her family and friends. Eleanor will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
