Rebecca Elizabeth Ann Presnall Ryland, 80, passed away Monday, April 17, 2023, at Jackson Medical Center in Jackson, Alabama. Born to Robert “R.B.” and Gertrude Blount Presnall on March 8, 1943, Mrs. Ann graduated from Jackson High School and worked for a time at Vanity Fair. During this time she met the love of her life, Norman “Bud” Ryland, who she married and shared life with until his passing in 2016. They were both members of Frankville Baptist Church.
One of the many joys they shared was a camp on the Tombigbee River near the old Bobby’s Fish Camp, where they took their children, grandchildren, and friends for many years. This also led to another one of her joys—working at Bobby’s. There, Mrs. Ann thoroughly enjoyed interacting with the customers, both the regulars and the ones just passing through on the river, and she did so for at least “ten or fifteen” years.
As a lady who was known as having a bubbly personality, she called most everyone "Sugar". She was always happiest when she was doing for others. Mrs. Ann could also be rather feisty when the occasion called for it! She loved her children and grandchildren, who she insisted call her ‘Grandmother’, not Granny or Meme or Mawmaw, but Grandmother.
She is survived by:
Son: Thomas W. (Deena) Ryland
Daughter: Sherry (Chris) Deas
Daughter-in-law: Jennifer Ryland
Grandchildren: Heather (Wesley) Holden, Tyler Elmore, Jonathan (Shelby) Ryland, Celena Ryland
