Faye McKinley Pettis of Chatom, Alabama, age 68, passed away on September 5, 2024.
Faye graduated from Washington County High School, class of 1974 where she was a cheerleader, and Miss Maroon and Gold 1973. She worked as a bookkeeper at Briskman & Binion for many years. She was also a lifelong member of Chatom Baptist Church. She married Dennis Pettis, and when he tragically passed, many years later, she found love again with Roland Fortenberry, whom she met in 1990 and they were together until his timely death in 2022.
Faye had a passion for cooking, especially for her family, traveling, knitting, as well as many other hobbies. She also found joy in the plants she displayed everywhere she could find a spot. However, her greatest joy in life was spending time with her family and friends, especially with her fiance, Roland, her niece, Lori, and her great-nephew and great-niece, Kody and Kaitlin. Faye had an unwavering faith in the Lord, and never once let her disease and sickness stop her from always showing grace to anyone lucky enough to cross paths with her.
Faye always wore a dazzling smile and had the most positive and graceful outlook on life, even when she had a bad day. She never said a mean word towards anyone and always carried a genuine kindness with her. She left behind a legacy of kindness, grace, faith, and strength. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her.
2 Timothy 4:7-I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith (KJV).
