George Page Walker, 87, passed away on March 5, 2020 at his residence in Leroy, Alabama.
George worked many years & retired from the Washington County Road & Bridge Department. He was an accomplished Master Carpenter, who loved to design and help others build their dreams. He had a "green thumb" for gardening and growing food for his family and friends in the community. George served as an Ordained Deacon of Evergreen Baptist Church for many years, but most recently attended Clearwater Assembly of God in Wagarville, Alabama. His hobbies included farming, raising cattle, saw milling lumber, and sitting around his pot belly stove telling stories; but his favorite past time was spending time with his Grandchildren and Great - Grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents: Louis and Riller Walker, Siblings: A.M. Walker, Roy Walker, L.A. Walker, Fred Walker, Dorothy Davidson, Jean Bonneau, Katie Everhart, Kitty White, and Nonie Williams.
He is survived by his wife of 43 years, Wanda Phillips Walker of Leroy, AL: Daughter: Amy Carol (Scott) Howell of Leroy, AL. Sons: Robert (Stacey) Marks of Las Vegas, Nevada and Roger (Donna) Marks of Jackson, AL. Sister: Sadie Mae Benson of Leroy, AL. 7 Grandchildren, 4 Great-Grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Services will be held Sunday, March 8, 2020 at Clearwater Assembly of God in Wagarville, AL. Visitation will be 2:00 PM ~ 3:00 PM. Service begins at 3:00 P.M. with the Brother Jimmy Butts and Brother Jim O'Neal officiating. Interment will be at Leroy Baptist Church "Old" Cemetery site following services. St. Stephens Funeral Home will be directing.
