George Woodyard, Jr. Obituary

George Gray Woodyard, Jr. passed away Friday, March 6, 2020. George attended Calvert Elementary School, Gulf Coast Military Academy, Marion Military Academy and graduated from Auburn University School of Forestry. He was also a Veteran of The US Marine Corp. George worked at St. Regis Paper Company, Ciba Geigy, and McIntosh Christian Academy. 

George was an Avid Auburn Fan and was a football ticket holder for many years. He most enjoyed and was devoted to helping young people in the church and in the school. He would also help young people learn about the Bible. George took the youth to Lake Junaluska, North Carolina annually and regularly. He would also take his students to ballgames. George was also a coach, umpire, & referee for girls sports and church leagues.  

George was a councilman for The Town of McIntosh and was a member of The Civitan Club. He enjoyed softball, bowling, golf, and bridge. George was a member of McIntosh United Methodist Church for 55 years. He served in many capacities including: President of The Official Board, Sunday School Teacher, Choir Member, Trustee, and was a Lay Leader. 

His faith was most important to him, his ministry and loving and helping people. George loved his family, most especially his cats. He was most happy working outside cultivating his garden and caring for his yard. George was a family man and will be sadly missed by all his family and friends.

Services will be held Monday, March 9, 2020 at Calvert United Methodist Church, Calvert AL. Visitation will be from 11:00 AM ~ 12:00 PM. Funeral Service will be at 12:00 PM with Rev. Denny McDavid officiating and St. Stephens Funeral Home directing. Interment will be at Calvert United Methodist Church Cemetery.
