James Edward Atchison, 91, passed away Friday, August 12, 2022. He was a native of Alabama and a resident of McIntosh. James graduated from Leroy High School where he played football. After graduation James joined the Army and later married the love of his life, Elizabeth Anne Howell "Honey" and they were married for 57 years. James was employed at Olin for 37 years, as a mechanic. He retired early in order to help build a new church. He was a member of First Baptist Church McIntosh. James was very dedicated to his church and served as a Deacon, Sunday School Superintendent and Treasurer. He always got to church early to turn on the air, hand out the church bulletins and hand out gum to all the children. James enjoyed watching his children play sports. In years gone by, he also liked to deer hunt and turkey hunt. His favorite saying was… He would ask…
“How are you.. ..
if the person answered
“I ‘m good”…..James would reply…”No one is good..no, not one….EXCEPT GOD!
