Obituary

James H. (Jimmy) Bumpers passed away at his home in Jackson, Al on September 12, 2023, at the age of 93.

Mr. Jimmy grew up in Wagarville, Al with his parents, Archie and Ida Mae Bumpers. He joined the Army at the age of 19. After his stent in the armed forces, he was hired on at Ciba Geigy, where he became a foreman until he retired. He met the love of his life, Francis Ruth Stoker Bumpers, in Jackson, Al, where she worked at Vanity Fair. They married not long after, and  remained married for 67 years and had three beautiful children, one son and two daughters.

Mr. Jimmy enjoyed spending time at the camp on his family's land, where he would hunt and fish. He was also a huge Alabama fan and he never missed a game if he could help it. If he wasn't watching an Alabama game, you could find him watching an old Western movie or Gunsmoke. Also another favorite was Sanford and Son. He also enjoyed listening to country music.

Mr. Jimmy will be dearly missed by all who knew him, especially his family and friends.

Survived by: his wife, Francis Ruth Stoker Bumpers, his son, Jimmy Wayne Bumpers, his daughters, Elizabeth Bumpers Sexton and Ann Bumpers Taylor and his grandson, Jared Henson Bumpers and several Nieces and Nephews.

Preceded in death by: his parents, Archie and Ida Mae Bumpers, and his brothers, Thomas Bumpers and John Bumpers

Graveside service will be Friday, September 15, 2023 at 1p.m., at Ebenezer Cemetery in Wagarville, Al.
