James Malcolm Waite, 78, went home to be with the Lord Thursday, June 1, 2023, at home, peacefully, surrounded by his loving family. Born to Frank Dean Waite and Doris Patrick Waite on March 6, 1945, graduated from Leroy High School, and went to tech school for two years. He went on to work with and retired from Alabama Power’s Barry Steam Plant.
Malcolm met the love of his life at Washington Baptist Church during a Christmas play one year. He and Mrs. Lynda were married for 56 years. Together, they raised a son, Kelly, or Kello, with whom Malcolm could talk for hours about football. He was known as “G Daddy” or just “Gee” to his grandchildren.
Malcolm was a huge fan of both Leroy football and the University of Alabama football and supported them both for many years. He also loved to watch old Gunsmoke re-runs and eat Blue Bell ice cream.
