Janice Jefferson Manning made her way to her Heavenly home Monday, September 2, 2024. The second child born to Charles Sr and Averil Jefferson, she learned the value of hard work and the importance of family from an early age.
Mrs. Manning worked outside the home most of her life, usually in a secretarial or administrative position, all while raising four kids. She loved church and was there every time the doors were open. She enjoyed singing in the choir and was involved in the ongoing ministries of the church.
Mrs. Manning loved the beach and mountains and would travel to both as often as she could. Being outside was her favorite, whether working in the yard or just watching the colors of the sky. She especially enjoyed the leaves changing colors in the fall and made a yearly trip to Tennessee to welcome the fall season. She was always up for a trip, especially with family- whether an organized outing or a grandchild's ballgame, you could always count her in.
She leaves behind a legacy of fierce faith and love of family, and she will be sorely missed.
Mrs. Manning is preceded in death by her parents Charles Sr and Averil Jefferson, her husband, Robert L. Manning, son, Alan Plybon, brother Charles Jefferson Jr and niece, Brenda Adkins. Survivors include daughters: Sherri Plybon, Atmore, Al; Janice (Kenneth) Sullivan, Wagarville, Al; Kay (Kenny) Harrell, Grove Hill, Al, sisters: Justine Beaver, Arlene Sowards and special friend, Donna Smith; Thirteen grandchildren and a host of great grandchildren.
