Jerry Williams Obituary

    Mr. Jerry Williams, 75, passed away at Mobile Infirmary on Monday, October 23, 2023.

   Mr. Williams was born on August 1, 1948 in Laton Hill to W. R. and Doretha "Shorty" Williams. He joined the Marines on August 5, 1966. Years later in 1969 he married the love of his life, Janet Johansen Williams, and they decided that they wanted to extend their family, and had two beautiful children.

      Mr. Williams worked for Thompson Gas in Chatom, Al until he retired in 2021.

   Mr. Williams was a God fearing man and read his Bible daily. He enjoyed working in the yard and watching television. He was a huge Alabama football fan. He loved spending time with his family and his grandchildren. As the grandchildren fondly called him Poppy.   And if you are listening to the instrumental music on this obituary, it is Crimson and Clover. This was Mr. and Mrs. Williams song that they shared together. It is no doubt that Mr. Williams was very truly loved and will be missed by all who knew him.

Mr. Williams is survived by: his wife, Janet Johansen Williams, his son, Terry (Annette) Williams, his daughter, Tracy (Steve) Roney, his brothers, Carl (Donna) Williams and Tommy (Eileen) Williams.his grandchildren, Tyler (Greg Pardue) Baxter, Travis (Ansley) Baxter, Kristin (Christian) Taylor, Brittany (Curtis) Boman, Dakota Williams and Tara (Garrett) McIlwain, and his Great Grandchildren, Caleb, Kenna, Kolby, Haven, C.J., Kadence and Lena.

Mr. Williams is preceded in death by: his parents, W. R. and Doretha Williams, his sister, Cathy Williams, his brother Merle "Pee-Wee" Williams, his niece, Bandi Waite and his Great Grandson, Daniel Taylor.

Services are Saturday, October 28, 2023 at Laton Hill Baptists Church. 

Visitation will be from 9:00 am - 10:30 am. Funeral will be at 10:30 am, with Bro. Chip Phillips officiating, and interment to follow at Laton Hill Cemetery.

Mr. Williams interment will be with the United States of America Marine Corp. Honor Guard.
