On Friday, April 18, 2025, Mr. Reeves, affectionately known as "Big Daddy", took his Heavenly flight, surrounded by his beloved family. Mr. Reeves was a precious soul and the type of person who never met a stranger. His warmth and openness endeared him to all who crossed his path.
A lover of nature, camping, traveling, and fishing, Mr. Reeves had a deep appreciation for the outdoors. His passion for Alabama football was legendary; since 1992, he held season tickets, relishing every game with fervor and loyalty. His devotion to the sport was a testament to his unwavering spirit.
Family was at the heart of Mr. Reeves' life. He adored spending time with his wife and children, cherishing each moment spent together. His grandchildren fondly knew him as PaPaw, and he loved them beyond measure. The bond he shared with his family was evident in the love and care he showed them every day.
Big Daddy's affection extended to his pet bulldog, Suki. Together, they shared a bond of love and protection, with Suki being his loyal guardian and best friend. The unwavering love between Mr. Reeves and Suki was a touching testament to the deep connections he fostered.
Mr. Reeves' time on Earth was one of great joy and happiness. He will be dearly missed by all who were fortunate enough to have known him. His legacy of love, kindness, and enthusiasm for life will forever remain in the hearts of his family and friends.
Mr. Reeves is survived by his wife, Mrs. Roxanne Reeves, sons John J. Reeves III, Joseph Chad Reeves, and Jacob Kyle (Heather) Reeves,
daughter Lisa (Steve) Johnson, brothers Edward "Buster" Reeves, and Rodger Reeves, grandchildren, Brandon, Jackson, Richard, Kristen, and Grant.
Mr. Reeves is preceded in death by his parents, Mr. John Reeves Sr., and Mrs. Callie Brunson Reeves, and brother, William "Billy " Reeves.
A visitation will be Friday, April 25, 2025, from 10:00AM to 11:00AM funeral at 11:00AM at Leroy Baptist Church in Leroy, Alabama, with the interment to follow at Leroy Baptist old cemetery in
Leroy, Alabama.
Officiating the services will be Bro. Dave Delegal with St. Stephens Funeral Home Directing.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Leroy Baptist Church building fund, or your local animal shelter.
