Mrs. Judy Duke passed away on Monday, April 6, 2026, surrounded by her loving family. Born and raised in Kentucky, Mrs. Duke later moved to Alabama after marrying the love of her life, William Duke, in 1974. She was well-known for her exceptional cooking skills, especially her famous fried chicken, which many considered the best on the Mason-Dixon line.
Mrs. Duke cherished her family deeply, and they loved her just as much. Her grandchildren affectionately called her "GranMaw." Beyond preparing home-cooked meals for her loved ones, she enjoyed watching the Kentucky Wildcats basketball team and found comfort in reading a good book.
Mrs. Judy Duke will forever be remembered in the hearts of all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Her warmth, culinary talents, and unwavering love for her family will leave a lasting legacy.
She is survived by her daughter, Lisa (Charles Godwin) Duke, son in-law, Lamar Koen, grandchildren, Kayla Roberts, Gracie Koen, David Stabler, Dylan Koen and Jerrikah Godwin, great grandchildren, Dallas West and Henley West. She is Preceded in death by her husband, William Duke, mother, Mary Ellen Ferguson, father, James Gilbert Ferguson, daughter Mary Ann Koen.
A celebration of life will be held at a later date and time.
