Pastor Larry Thompson, 71, passed away on September 12, 2021, at home. He was a native of Fredericktown, Ohio and a resident of Chatom, AL. He held the position of Association Missionary at the Washington Baptist Association and other various jobs such as tow boat engineer and diesel mechanic.
Pastor Thompson met his wife (Wilene Gatton) of 50 years at V & M Restaurant, Bellville, OH where she was a waitress who served him what he considered the "most expensive hamburger" ever. Pastor Thompson enjoyed fishing, Alabama football, mission project trips and cooking for family and friends.
He graduated from Fredericktown High School, Fredericktown, OH, and attended Liberty University, Lynchburg, VA, and received a four year college degree in Religion.
His favorite Bible verse is Romans 8:28 - And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to His purpose.
He had several favorite hymns and often said you could start at page 1 of the Baptist Hymnal. Loved all songs with Amazing Grace as his favorite.
