Leonard L. Gates was called home on Tuesday, June 25, 2024.
Mr. Gates was born to his parents, Roy and Alma Gates in the year of 1943. He was raised on a farm in Fulton, Al. He was taught at an early age what it meant to work hard for what he wanted. He later went on to join the United States Army in 1963, where he completed three tours in Vietnam. He retired his military hat in 1972 and went on to become a commercial truck driver. Missing his love for the military, he decided to join the United States Air Force, but sadly was given an honorable medical discharge.
Mr. Leonard was married to his wonderful wife, Loraine Gates, for 38 years. His family said that he was as stubborn as a mule, but usually in good spirits. He enjoyed watching the Dallas Cowboys play football and loved to go fishing when he could. He enjoyed being with his family and friends.
Mr. Gates will be missed by his family, friends and all who knew him.
