Mallie “Douglas” Palmer Obituary
On New Years Eve 2020 God called his son Mallie “Douglas” Palmer to come join His Heavenly Gospel Group.
Douglas was born 8-8-1928 to Mallie & Sadie Palmer of St. Stephens, AL. He shared many stories of growing up in the “Piney Woods” hunting with his beloved coon dogs, fishing, riding his golden horse Trigger and teaching himself how to sing, play the piano and guitar.
He became well known for these musical talents singing and playing with several gospel groups including The Lovelace Gospel Singers and Doug Palmer and The Atwood Trio.
They traveled the Gospel Circuit, recorded several albums and performed on radio/tv show The Gospel Singing Caravan.
Douglas is survived by his sons Greg (Debbie) Palmer and Tony (Sharon) Palmer. Many grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and many life long friends.
Due to Covid, the family has chosen A Graveside Service to be held at First Baptist Church of St. Stephens Cemetery, St. Stephens, AL, Monday, January 4, 2021 at 10:00 AM. Bro. Bobby Moseley will be officiating with St. Stephens Funeral Home directing.
