Margaret Padgett, 76, was called home on Friday, October 4, 2024.
Mrs. Padgett was a graduate from Clarke County High School and Hobson State Technical School. She became a licensed cosmetologist and owned and operated a beauty salon for over 15 years. Later she became a bank teller at Merchants Bank until the day she retired.
Mrs. Margaret loved spending time with her family any chance she got. She enjoyed the time she spent with her grandchildren. She had the pleasure of homeschooling one of her granddaughters for four years. She was fondly known to them as Mawmaw.
Mrs. Padgett loved gardening and caring for her house plants. She also enjoyed sewing and smocking baby clothes. She was an active member of Union Baptist Church and cherished her friendships with the ladies in her Sunday School class. She was an amazing wife, mother and friend. She will be sorely missed by all who knew and loved her.
Mrs. Padgett is survived by: Her husband, Jimmy Padgett; Son, Glen (Wendy) Padgett; Daughters, Tina (Shad) Wilks, MaryAnn (Dustin) Copeland; Sister, Linda (Melvin) Couch and Grandchildren, Matthew Padgett, Charles Wilks, Carter Copeland, Jennings Wilks, Vivian Padgett, Loraleigh Copeland and Anna Kate Wilks.
Mrs. Padgett is preceded in death by: Her parents, Grady Cleo and Earline Duke
A visitation will be held on Monday, October 7, 2024 at Union Baptist Church in Grove Hill, Al at 10:00 AM, funeral at 11:00 AM, with Rev. Carey Howard officiating, and interment to follow at Union Baptist Church Cemetery. Services directed by St. Stephens Funeral Home
