Mary Guy Obituary

     Mary Emma Woodyard Guy, passed away at her home on Thursday, October 5, 2023. 

    Mrs. Mary was born March 21, 1945 to her parents George Franklin and Bertie Mae Woodyard.

      Mrs. Mary attended Leroy High School and was a cheerleader throughout school. After graduation she met the love of her life, Mr. Gerald Guy and later married July 27, 1968. Shortly after, they added two beautiful children to their family, Heath and Amanda. 

        Mr. Gerald worked construction and they traveled all over until building their home in 1978 in Leroy, Al. Mary Emma and Gerald both worked many years at Boise Cascade Paper Mill in Jackson, Al. Mary Emma retired from Boise after Twenty years of service.

     Mrs. Mary enjoyed working in the yard and cutting grass. She loved sitting on her porch watching the beautiful hummingbirds. She enjoyed the countless sleepovers and the special bond she shared with her granddaughter Raigan. She absolutely adored spending time with all her family. They fondly knew her as Nana.  She will be sorely missed buy all her family and friends.

     Mrs. Guy is survived by her husband, Mr. Gerald Guy, her son, Heath (Casey) Guy, her daughter, Amanda (Joe) Tolbert, her grandchildren, Raigan Davis, Hannah Hawk, Haleigh Hawk. Hayden Hawk, Victoria (Jerritt) Varner and Gavin (Madison) Tolbert and her great-grandchildren, Harleigh, Olivia, Rhett, Ellison, Lucille, Kaleb, Jayce and Zaiden, her brothers, Joe (Donna) Woodyard, George Wilder Woodyard, her sisters, Flora Lee (Roger) Pettis, Louise Anderson Ward and Catherine Trott and many treasured nieces and nephews.

     Mrs. Guy is preceded in death by her parents, George Franklin and Bertie Mae Woodyard, her sisters, Frankie Havard and Juanita Catrett and her brother, Tarzan Conerly.

Visitation will be at Pine Grove United Methodist Church in Leroy, Al on Sunday, October 8, 2023 at 2:00 p.m. Funeral will be at 3:00 p.m. with Bro. Tommy Gaillard officiating and interment to follow at Pine Grove Cemetery.
