Mavis Jeannette (Goodman) Morgan

Mavis "Jeannette" Goodman Morgan, passed away on January 13, 2020, at age 80.  She was a native and life long resident of Grove Hill, AL.  Jeannette was the only child of Eddie Roy "Bud" Goodman and Donnie Andrews Goodman.  She married Frederick Douglas "Red" Morgan on August 22, 1959.  "Red" passed away in 1999.  She graduated from Clarke County High School and later graduated as a Registered Nurse from Mobile Infirmary School of Nursing in August, 1960.  Jeannette was also a member of the Order of Eastern Star.  She began her nursing career at the Grove Hill Infirmary and later joined the Clarke County Health Department conducting rural clinics for them.  Jeannette worked with Dr. Ralph D. Neal, Jr., for 25 years and retired from Grove Hill Medical Center.  Later, she joined the staff of Grove Hill Memorial Hospital and served in the lab for the remainder of her career.  Jeannette was a member of Grove Hill Baptist Church and an active member of the "Love Sunday School Class" and Women's Missionary Union.  She enjoyed serving her church, preparing meals for bereaved families and decorating the church for Christmas.  Jeannette enjoyed traveling, trips with her "Young at Heart" Church Group and also traveling with her family.  Hobbies over the years included crocheting, cross stitching, and arranging flowers...but her First Love Was Nursing!  

Jeannette was loved dearly by her family and she loved them all too.  She leaves behind two precious companion pets; her dog, Sally; and her cat, Freckles.

One Daughter ~ Amanda Morgan (Tracy) Newton ~ Grove Hill, AL

One Granddaughter ~ Katie Newton (Matt) Harvell ~ Grove Hill, AL

(Jeannette was "so proud" of her granddaughter, Katie).

A Graveside Service will be Wednesday, January 15, 2020, 2:00 PM,

Magnolia Lawn, Grove Hill, AL.  Officiating will be Rev. Gary Pickard,

Dr. Randy Boone and Dr. Randy Johnson with St. Stephens Funeral Home directing.
