Michael Allen Goldstein, 67, of Millry, Alabama, passed away unexpectedly Thursday, January 26, 2023. Born in Brooklyn, New York, on August 16, 1955, Michael went on to join the Air Force, spending 4 years on active duty and another 4 in the Air Force Reserve, during which time he graduated with a bachelor’s degree from the State University of New York. He later received an MBA from the University of Phoenix and worked and retired as an engineer with the Lockheed Martin corporation.
Along his journey, Michael spent some time in Livingston, Alabama, where he met Susan, his wife of 44 years. They had one son, Jabin, who is married to Chelsea. They have two beautiful daughters and a son who is to be born next week. A man with simple desires and needs, Michael’s ‘hobbies’ include target shooting, bible study, and spending time with his family. Known as Pop to his granddaughters, and Uncle Mike to his nieces and nephews, he led a full life, overflowing in the joy of the Lord and time with his family.
Michael was a gentle soul, a quiet, confident man who was grounded by his faith in his Lord Jesus Christ. An ardent student of the Bible, he had a close relationship with his Lord, with an understanding of His will through that study and relationship. Described as a ‘mighty man of God’, Michael was able and willing to impart biblical wisdom when needed and to pray often for friends and family. That quiet strength that he shared with his family is what will sustain them through these tough times.
All who knew Michael loved him. He will be greatly missed by his immediate family, his extended family, his church family, and his many friends.
Michael is survived by his wife, Susan Scarbrough Goldstein, his son Jabin (Chelsea) Goldstein, two granddaughters, Violet Mae and Nora Leigh Goldstein, and a sister, Laura Beth (Fred) Gross.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Charles Frank Goldstein and Miriam Slutsky Feinstein.
A visitation will be held at Barlow Chapel Community Church on Monday, January 30, 2023, from 11:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m., followed by a funeral service at 12:00. Bro. Jerry Taylor will officiate and St. Stephens Funeral Home will direct.
