Mincy L. Riley Obituary

Mincy Mims Riley, 79, passed peacefully at home on Sunday, May 23, 2021. She was born to Jim Mims, Sr. and Ada Lou Cross Mims Perdue in Coffee County, Alabama, where she spent most of her life.

She loved her children, grandchildren, great and great-greats fiercely and was a true prayer warrior for them and others, always. If she said she would pray for you, she meant it, and she would - by name - each day. She loved to read God’s Word, and she was working on reading the Bible all the way through this year – again. She loved the Lord and had a most personal relationship with Him.

If you had an occasion to talk to Mincy about the trials in life that she had encountered, she would tell you how the Lord had always been faithful to bring her through and how He would bring her through those to come. She knew the Lord and would readily call on Him in her moments of need, and she always gave Him thanks and glory for His many answered prayers – big and small.

After the death of her beloved husband, Riley, she moved to St. Stephens to live with her daughter, Cindy.  She loved the community and was always so grateful to her church family at First Baptist Church St. Stephens for so readily accepting her into the fold and loving her as she loved them. She said she had never been a part of a community like it, and she was amazed at how she was immediately welcomed and felt right at home.

She is survived by her children: David Keal, Daniel (Cindy) Keal, Janine McDowell, and Cindy (Joey) Faith; siblings: Thomas (Doris) Perdue, Jim Mims, Jr., Janey (Leon) Strickland, Ann Rudd and Phylis Wegener; grandchildren: Lacey Breckenridge, Jade Keal, Jenny Roberts, Austin Sells, Sviet Faith, and Tonya Faith; great-grandchildren: Kieron, Mona, Joseph, Jacob, Jonah, Sarah, Tanner, Journey, Hunter, Katrina, Robert, and Danny; great-great-grandchildren: Josie, Jolie, Myles, Brelyn, and Hezekiah.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, James Wilson Riley; father, Jim Mims, Sr.; mother, Ada Lou Perdue; grandson, Dusty Wayne McDowell; and sister, Janette Means.
