Peggy Harvey Lankford, 85, passed away at her home in Wagarville on Thursday May 12, 2022, surrounded by her family. Peggy was born in Murfreesboro, TN, to Mattie Harvey Reeves. She was lovingly raised by her grandparents, J.T. and Nan Harvey. She attended Crichlow Elementary and graduated from Cental High School in Murfreesboro.
Peggy met her husband, Billy, on a blind date in Smyrna, TN, while he was stationed at Sewart Air Force Base. They were married on July 2, 1954, and have been married 67 years.
Peggy worked at Vanity Fair as an Industrial Engineer for thirty years until she retired. She then became an AARP tax coordinator for the state of Alabama. A faithful member of Wagarville Baptist Church, she served the church as treasurer for several years. Peggy loved hosting Sunday dinners and the holidays. She was loved very much by her family and all who were fortunate enough to be her friend.
Peggy is preceded in death by her mother and grandparents, infant son Thomas Wayne Lankford, sister Barbara Stacey, and her in-laws Harry and Ludie Lankford.
Peggy leaves behind her husband Billy Lankford, daughter Christy (Keith) Ikner of Leroy, grandchildren Shanna (Joey) Cooper of Gainestown and Greg (Jessica) Ikner of Vestavia Hills, and three great grandchildren, Ty Cooper, Jett Ikner, Jones Ikner sisters-in-laws Jimmie Griffin of Wagarville, Peggy Sue Lankford of Chickasaw, and Kate (Joe) Johnston of Fairhope, and many special nieces and nephews.

Funeral Service will be conducted Sunday May 15, 2022 at Wagarville Baptist Church with Lynn Pace officiating. Visitation will be from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM with funeral service following. Interment will follow the service at Ebenezer Cemetery. St. Stephens Funeral Home directing all services. Pallbearers will be Greg Ikner, Joey Cooper, Steve Griffin, Alan Keith, Dusty Johnston and Denny Johnston. Honorary Pallbearers will be Edwina Foster and Barbara Cooper.
