Theresa Mae Kelley Duke, 65, passed away Thursday, April 6, 2023, at her home in Grove Hill, Alabama. Born January 7, 1958, to Hubbert and Ada Mae Williams Kelley, Mrs. Duke attended Thomasville High School and chose to be a homemaker for her life’s work. Her most enjoyable time was the time spent with her family.
Married to David Lavert Duke for 47 years, she was a quiet, soft-spoken, humble lady who rarely got upset. She was a life-long member of Springfield Methodist Protestant Church who loved to read and garden, cooking much of what she grew and canning the rest. When she wasn’t outside working with her garden and her flowers, of which she was well-versed, Mrs. Duke was inside quilting or crocheting Christmas ornaments, while listening to country music or old rock and roll. She firmly believed that Elvis was the King of Rock and Roll.
She is survived by:
Husband: David Lavert Duke
Son: David Corey Duke
She was preceded in death by:
Brothers: Hubbert Donald Kelley, Edward Kelley, Elvis Ray Kelley
A visitation will be held Tuesday, April 11, 2023, from 10:00 until 11:00 a.m. at the Springfield Methodist Protestant Church in Sandflat, Alabama, south of Thomasville, followed by the funeral service at 11:00, with interment to follow at the Kelley Cemetery in Sandflat.
