Travis Thornton went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, July 10, 2024.
Mr. Thornton was born to his parents, Wesley and Velma Thornton. After school, he met the love of his life and she was with him through his 4 years of service in the United States Army. They raised three beautiful children together and were life long residents of Washington County. They were married for 50 wonderful years.
Mr. Travis was a very quiet and reserved man. After the military, he became a log truck driver and retired after 48 years. He enjoyed watching Auburn football and loved spending time with his grandchildren, who fondly called him Papa.
Mr. Thornton will be sorely missed by all of his family, friends and all who knew him.
Mr. Thornton is survived by: Wife, Gladys Thornton; Sons: Stephen Taylor, and Shawn (Brandi) Thornton; Daughter, Kelley (Danny) Whigham; Brothers, Gary (Kathy) Thornton, Tony (Renee) Thornton and Loud Thornton; Grandchildren, Christian (Kristin) Taylor, Josh (Jennifer) Whigham, Eric Thornton, Jordan (Anna) Whigham, Shawnee Taylor, Josh Kirkland, Ethan Thornton, Mitch (Kali) Whigham and Corey Whigham; Ten Great Grandchildren and a host of nieces and nephews.
Mr. Thornton is preceded in death by: Parents, Wesley and Velma Thornton and Sisters, Shelia Hare and Priscilla Thornton.
A Graveside Service will be held on Friday, July 12, 2024 at 10:00 AM at Yellow Pine Cemetery in Fruitdale with Bro. Buddy Jones officiating.
