Velma Watkins Obituary

Mrs. Velma Jean Watkins passed away peacefully with her loving daughter and son-in-law by her side on March 15, 2026. Mrs. Velma was a loving, devoted, mother and wife.

She was faithful to attend church each time the doors were open and believed in the power of prayer. When her daughter was of school age, she would kneel every morning by her side and say a prayer before sending her off to school—a memory that will forever be cherished.

Velma dedicated many years as a banker, then, she was a long-time housewife and mother. She enjoyed reading, especially her Bible; not only did she read it, but she also returned to the word for reference as a guide through life’s challenges.

Her family fondly remembers her delicious cooking, describing each meal as a testament to her talent and dedication. Every dish was crafted with care infused with her love and her special touch.

Her family was her heart and soul, and she loved them dearly, always putting their needs above her own and finding joy in their happiness.

She was a lovingly devoted, generous, and caring person who delighted in expressing her affection in thoughtful ways. Whether it was by sending greeting cards for every occasion or simply reaching out with a kind word, she made sure her family and friends felt special and remembered.

She enjoyed watching preaching and listening to southern gospel music, drawing inspiration from programs such as Brother Jimmy Swaggart, whom she considered her favorite.

Mrs. Velma’s warmth, generosity and unwavering love will be sorely missed by all whose lives she touched, leaving behind cherished memories and a legacy of kindness.
